Projects Underway Needing Assistance

Building
Completion of our building is a top priority. The CLAS Centre remains central to the success and sustainability of the CLAS Program. It provides a safe literacy, training, and recreational space for our children, away from the crime-ridden streets. Whilst some activities are being carried out in the building, fencing, tiling, and the setting up of a clinic are still left to be completed.

Lorraine Jolie Scholarship Fund (LJSF)
CLAS established the LJSF in October 2015 to honor the memory of our first legal advisor, Attorney at law, the late Loraine Jolie. The scholarship targets two underprivileged students per year and provides transportation and food allowance for their secondary school tenure. We hope to expand the program to include more students and provide more benefits once the resources are available.

Male Mentoring Program
This caters to the most at-risk young boys, ages 3-15, and connects them with male mentors. Twice monthly the boys are taken outside the community for a social outing, each mentor supervising four boys at a time. This is the setting; however, the strategic objective remains that Volunteer men would impart to young boys core values, principles, and overall guidance. All we need is a small portion of your time and your big heart to help rescue a boy.
As more mentors come on board, the program has the potential to expand to other inner-city neighborhoods, a dire need at this time. Consider becoming a Mentor today.
CLAS’ Saturday Feeding Program
This is one of our longest-serving programs, providing a weekly lunch service since 2006. The program presently caters to up to 40 children.
Since the covid-19 pandemic, we’ve had to incorporate some weekday feedings as well, to respond to an increasing need. Adult residents are also benefiting.
We have had to incorporate a Breakfast component when resources are available.
